William, Kate’s children at risk over lower Buckingham Palace balcony

The east wing of Buckingham Palace will soon be open to the public for the very first time, allowing visitors to see the iconic balcony that has been shared by many members of the Royal Family over the years.

Before the public access begins, royal correspondent Emily Nash was given an exclusive preview and has shared her thoughts on the experience

According to Emily, the balcony is “lower than you think”, which has led her to voice concerns for the young children ofPrince WilliamandPrincess Kate.

Although visitors are not permitted to step onto the platform, Emily confessed she was “struck” by its size from where she was standing and admitted she would be “super nervous” about letting her own children venture out onto it.

On Hello! Magazine’s A Right Royal podcast, she revealed: “It’s much lower than you think. Again you’re not allowed to step out onto it, but it’s quite deep, in the terms of fitting several people in, behind each other,” reportsthe Express.

“The balustrade is not that high and we were told that they use a small box for the youngest children to see over the top for the flypast.

“But, I have to say, I’d be inclined to sort of put reins on, particularly with the lively one… not mentioning names,” she added, with Prince Louis’ name being suggested in the background.

Podcast host Emmy Griffiths was curious as to why the iconic balcony wasn’t accessible to visitors, prompting Andrea Caamano to comment: “It sounds dangerous.
