When the time comes for Prince William to ascend the throne, it appears that the young heir will become the 28th Prince of Wales. Although he will immediately be granted the title of The Duke of Cornwall, the new King will need to bestow upon George the title of Prince of Wales.
This historic title is traditionally given to the eldest son of the monarch. Consequently, Prince George will also acquire the titles of Duke of Cornwall, Earl of Chester, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.
Additionally, he will inherit the vast private estate of the Duchy of Cornwall. The title of The Prince of Wales dates back to around 1223 when it was bestowed upon Llywelyn ap Gruffudd by English King Henry III.
