He might’ve had the bitter disappointment of watching England lose to Spain in the final of Euro 2024 last Sunday, but Prince George will be feeling chipper as he turns 11 today.
Just a few weeks ago he met pop megastar Taylor Swift and both his mother Kate and grandfather King Charles are doing well amid their respective cancer battles.
The meeting with Swift backstage at Wembley Stadium on the opening night of the London leg of her Eras tour came on his father Prince William’s 42nd birthday.
The second in line to the throne has lived through some of the most turbulent times in recent royal history.
He endured the death of his beloved great-grandparents Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth in April 2021 and September 2022 respectively.
George has also seen the breakdown of his father’s relationship with his uncle Prince Harry in recent years.
But this year has been the hardest of all. His grandfather’s cancer diagnosis in February hit the family first, whilst his mother’s was announced the following month.

Prince George Had a Very Special Nickname for Queen ElizabethInStyleAdCelebrityPrince GeorgePrince George Had a Very Special Nickname for Queen ElizabethHe was the only royal great-grandchild that got to use it.By Staff Author Published on October 28, 2024 @ 02:12PMQueen Elizabeth II attending the Queen’s Body Guard for ScotlandPhoto: Jane Barlow/WPA Pool/Getty ImagesPrince George’s arrival in 2013 made history in more ways than one: the British throne got a new heir and Queen Elizabeth helped revise the laws that governed the line of succession—she made it so that regardless of Prince William and Kate Middleton welcoming a son or daughter, the new arrival would be able to take the throne ahead of their siblings. That royal shift apparently cemented a very special bond between Prince George and his great-grandmother, as he eventually gave her a sweet nickname that nobody else was allowed to use.George is only 2-and-a-half and calls her ‘gan-gan.’ She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just shows, I think, her love for her family,” Middleton explained in Elizabeth at 90: A Family Tribute, a BBC documentary about the queen that aired in 2016.In a special Christmas message that the late queen gave after George’s arrivaal, she paid tribute to the future monarch, saying: “Here at home my own family is a little larger this Christmas. As so many of you will know, the arrival of a baby gives everyone the chance to contemplate the future with renewed happiness and hope.”

Prince Harry and Meghan fall below Prince Andrew in humiliating mix-upPrince Harry and Meghan Markle find themselves at the bottom of the royal hierarchy on the official royal website, listed below Prince Andrew. The “Role of the Royal Family” page places King Charles at the top, followed by Queen Camilla, Princess Kate, and Prince WilliamOther prominent royals like the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester are also featured prominently with individual tabs.In a notable distinction, Meghan and Harry share a single tab titled “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” making them the only royals without individual listings. Their biography on the homepage states, “As announced in January 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back as working members of The Royal Family.” In contrast, Prince Andrew, who similarly stepped back from royal duties, has a more straightforward biography: “Find out more about the Duke of York.” Andrew stepped down from royal duties in 2019 after his controversial Newsnight interview, yet he has maintained a prominent section on the official royal website, sitting alongside Princess Alexandra. The couple have been shifted to a lower position, now listed below Prince Andrew.Previously, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were featured above him and below Princess Alexandra, with their official page showcasing an extensive biography detailing their royal journey
