Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is receiving chemotherapy.
The announcement came Friday in the form of an emotional video posted on Kensington Palaceβs social media.
Clearing up weeks of speculation and conspiracy theories surrounding her health, the Princess of Wales further disclosed that while her abdominal surgery in January was initially believed to be for a non-cancerous condition, later tests showed the presence of cancer.
She is now undergoing βpreventive chemotherapy.β
It remains unclear the type she has been diagnosed with or the prognosis.
βIn January, I underwent major abdominal surgery,β the 42-year-old said.
βThe surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.β
The announcement followed a period of intense uncertainty surrounding her health, as the Princess of Wales had not made an official public appearance since Christmas.
βWilliam and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,β Kate said
