Prince Archie celebrates fifth birthday today and adorable pictures of him
Happy birthday Prince Archie Harrison! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son is celebrating his fifth birthday today.
Despite only being five, Archie’s life has already had incredibly busy moments – including three house moves between the UK and the US and one major royal tour at just a few months old.
Archie was born at London’s Portland Hospital on May 6, 2019 and moved to the US the following year.
Meghan and Harry have made very few public appearances with their children since their move to the US, but delighted fans with some personal pictures and footage of Archie and his younger sister, Princess Lilibet, in their Netflix series in 2022.
Here Express.co.uk looks back at some of Archie’s sweetest moments captured on camera so far.
Two days after his birth – on May 8, 2019 – Meghan and Harry delighted royal fans by showing off their newborn son to the world in a photocall at St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle. The proud parents, cradling baby Archie, spoke movingly of their “little bundle of joy”. Describing her first few days of motherhood as “magic”, Meghan said: “I mean I have the two best guys in the world so Iβm really happy.” Thanking everyone for their “well wishes and kindness”, the now-mother-of-two added: “It just means so much.”
Archie made his first public appearance with mum Meghan in Surrey on July 10, 2019. The young royal joined his mum to suport Prince William and Prince Harry at the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day. The duo were joined by the now-Princess of Wales and Archie’s cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. During the match, Harry went over to check on his wife and son, and was captured looking down sweetly at his sleeping newborn in Meghan’s arms.
In September 2019, Prince Archie marked a major milestone when he joined his parents on a royal visit to South Africa. During their 10-day visit, the then-four-month-old was spotted for the first time as he was introduced to renowned anti-apartheid campaigner Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The appearance of Archie on a royal tour means he is one step ahead of cousin Louis who, at the age of six, has never been on an overseas royal tour.
